Wayne State University celebrates 47th annual Noel Night
On Saturday, Dec. 7, more than 110 Midtown institutions, shops and restaurants will again open their doors for a Cultural Center-wide holiday open house. The 47th annual Noel Night promises to be full of good food, local shopping, kids crafts, live music and other special performances. Venues north of Warren Avenue will be active from 1 to 7 p.m. Venues south of Warren will be active between 5 and 10 p.m.
Wayne State University schools, colleges and divisions are sponsoring dozens of events and activities between 1 and 10 p.m. Woodward | Warren Park will again serve as a primary activity hub and include the4th annual Winter Art and Retail Market (WARM), a pop-up holiday marketplace with 70 small, local businesses and WSU-affiliated artists, plus a biergarten, food trucks, a digital photo booth, kids crafts and karate demonstrations. New in 2019, Old Main will include a Preservation Corner where visitors can learn about WSU's David Mackenzie House, historic Hamtramck and the Workers Row House historic site in Corktown. Additionally, through a partnership between WSU and Lyft, Wayne State students are designing and painting a mural on the back side of the WSU Press Building. On Noel Night, WSU and Lyft will light up the new mural and activate the adjacent alley with carolers, seating and snacks (all in close proximity to the annual WSU Press Warehouse sale).

The official Noel Night website includes parking and transportation suggestions. Visitors should be prepared to navigate Midtown on foot, although a shuttle will be operating with various stops throughout the festival. For rideshare users, Lyft is offering a one-time discount of 25% off rides to and from Noel Night.
