The Wayne State campus is well served by transit, and the university subsidizes four-hour Dart and annual MoGo passes for enrolled students and full—and part-time employees, allowing them to ride DDOT and SMART buses and MoGo bikes for free. The QLine is operating fare-free, meaning no pass or payment is required.

DDOT, SMART, the QLine and MoGo are great options for getting around both our campus and community. Brandon Shamoun, assistant dean of students for student involvement, activities, and organizations, speaks as someone who sold his vehicle during the pandemic. “Rolling through Detroit on DDOT buses, the QLine, and MoGo bikes transforms my short campus commute into a daily journey through the heart of the city, where every ride brings new discoveries and connections.”

The Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) operates buses within the city of Detroit. SMART operates bus service in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties with local travel within and between suburban cities as well as service into downtown Detroit. DDOT and SMART use a shared fare system called Dart. To unlock free Dart passes in the Token Transit app, Warriors need to submit the online request form. Each four-hour pass is good for unlimited rides on DDOT and SMART buses while active.

Warriors can also pick up 31-day paper DART passes from the W Pantry and Wardrobe.

For those who prefer to explore on two wheels, MoGo is Detroit's public bike-sharing system. It operates in 10 neighborhoods in the greater Downtown area, as well as Northwest Detroit, Ferndale, Oak Park, Huntington Woods, Berkley and Royal Oak. There are seven stations on or immediately adjacent to Wayne State's campus. Warriors can sign up for their free annual MoGo pass on the MoGo website. An annual pass allows the pass holder to take an unlimited number of 60-minute trips for one year. For trips that extend beyond 60 minutes, users pay $0.25 for each additional minute until the bike is securely locked in any MoGo station.

Warriors commuting from Parking Structure 1 to the Mike Ilitch School of Business, for example, can ride:

• The QLine, which picks up at Woodward and Ferry (a five-minute walk from Structure 1) and drops off at Woodward and Sproat (outside Mike Ilitch). It runs every 15-20 minutes.
• The DDOT-4, which picks up at Woodward and Palmer (a four-minute walk from Structure 1) and drops off at Woodward and Temple (outside Mike Ilitch). It runs every 20 minutes.
• The DDOT-16, which picks up at Cass and Kirby (a four-minute walk from Structure 1) and drops off at Cass and Ledyard (a six-minute walk from Mike Ilitch). It runs every 20 minutes.
• MoGo! There are MoGo stations at Cass and Gilmour Mall (a two-minute walk from Structure 1) and immediately outside Mike Ilitch on Woodward.

The QLine, DDOT-4, DDOT-16 and MoGo are also great options for getting around our Midtown neighborhood and to and from downtown. DDOT and SMART also offer Warriors the opportunity to commute to and from campus without a car. In addition to its regular fixed routes, SMART offers limited-stop FAST routes along Woodward, Michigan and Gratiot Avenues. Travel time to campus from Ferndale on the Woodward FAST bus is approximately only 30 minutes!
