Noel Night 2022

On Saturday, Dec. 3, Noel Night returns for its 48th annual winter celebration! Hosted by Midtown Detroit, Inc., the evening will feature local food, shopping, family crafts, live music, educational opportunities, and much more with nearly 100 participating venues. Event spaces north of Warren Ave. will be active from 5 to 9 p.m., while venues south of Warren Ave. will be active from 5 to 10 p.m.

University activities

Several Wayne State University schools, colleges and divisions are hosting events and activities across campus during Noel Night.

  • Woodward / Warren: This area is the heart of the Noel Night footprint with a Holiday Marketplace and the Noel Night Bandstand. The WSU Art Department will be participating in the marketplace.
  • Elaine Jacob Gallery: Stop by and view the exhibition Confluent: Detroit Art and the University Art Collection.
  • Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance: First-year dance company, Company One, will perform A Place for Twelve at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Allesee Dance Theatre (located on the 3rd floor of Old Main).
  • Museum of Anthropology: The museum gallery will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. for self-guided tours, live music, crafts and more.
  • WSU Planetarium: Stop by for A Long Winter’s Night. This one-hour planetarium show includes a live star talk about the Winter Constellations above Detroit and a family-friendly full dome film called Polaris: The Space Submarine and the Mystery of the Polar Night. Showings will take place at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. 
  • WSU Press Warehouse: Find your next favorite read and great gifts for everyone on your list, all at special Noel Night discount prices, at the WSU Press Warehouse Book Sale.
  • WDET 101.9FM: Festivities will include hot cocoa, cookies and tours of the station with opportunities to meet WDET Program Hosts, and more!

Eventgoers should be prepared to navigate Midtown on foot, although the QLine will be operating and free for all attendees. DDOT, MoGo Bikes and SMART buses are also free for all WSU students, staff and faculty, and will be operating with various stops throughout the festival.

Noel Night is produced by Midtown Detroit, Inc., a nonprofit community development organization that supports economic growth in Detroit's Midtown district.
