Meet Wayne State's New Transportation Ambassador
Curious to learn more about your options for getting around Midtown and beyond? Meet Amy Alexander, Wayne State's new Transportation Ambassador! Amy is a graduate student in Urban Planning and an experienced transit rider. In her role as Transportation Ambassador, she's charged with connecting Wayne State with DDOT, SMART, MoGo, Zipcar and other local mobility options.
Amy recently helped launch WayneRides, Wayne State's one-stop shop for all things transportation and mobility. The goal of WayneRides is to help increase Warrior knowledge and use of local transit services via regular office hours, information sessions and group rides. Wayne State students, faculty, staff and neighbors can learn more about WayneRides by visiting the WayneRides webpage, Instagram and Facebook.
The Transportation Ambassador role is a partnership between Wayne State's Dean of Students Office (DOSO), Office of Economic Development (OED), and Parking and Transportation Services. "Transportation access is a key contributor to student success," said Dr. David Strauss, Dean of Students. "There are many excellent transportation options in southeast Michigan and having a campus Transportation Ambassador has enabled us to communicate these resources and raise awareness of transportation needs and services."
In addition to holding office hours and organizing events, Amy will be keeping the campus community updated on service improvements-like SMART's new FAST service, a high-frequency, limited-stop service along Gratiot, Woodward and Michigan Avenues-and special Wayne State discounts. For example, did you know, Warriors save $10 on an Annual MoGo Pass (making passes $70)? Sign up at MoGoDetroit.org using your wayne.edu email address and the code "Warriors".
Interested in creating a commute plan or have a specific transit question? Email Amy at transit@wayne.edu, or stop in the Dean of Students Office between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, to learn more.
