Detroit Bike Share
In 2013, Wayne State's Office of Economic Development hired a team of consultants from Alta Planning + Design and Living Lab Detroit to conduct a study to explore the feasibility of creating a public bike sharing system in greater Downtown Detroit. The study found that greater Downtown Detroit would support a bike share system, so our office continued to forge partnerships and raise needed funds. In Summer 2015 we transferred the Detroit Bike Share program to the Downtown Detroit Partnership. In May 2017, MoGo, Detroit Bike Share launched with Henry Ford Health System as its title sponsor. MoGo reported more than 4,000 rides in its first week.
Thanks to the following partners for their financial support of the study:
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
Downtown Detroit Partnership
Henry Ford Health System
The Colin Hubbell Fund (administered by Midtown Detroit, Inc.)
