Wayne State University

While restaurants, shops, new housing, and arts and entertainment opportunities abound in Midtown, some of the most exciting growth is happening right here on Wayne State’s campus.  Over the last 10-15 years, the University has tripled the number of students living on campus.  We’ve invested more than $1 billion into maintaining, improving, and expanding our campus and its facilities.  Through programs like Zipcar, Zimride, and a shared shuttle service with Henry Ford Health System and the Detroit Medical Center, we’re helping people get around campus and the neighborhood more efficiently.  Along with other companies and organizations, we’re investing in M-1, a light rail project to better connect people to our campus and the community.   We’re helping create connections between our campus community and local businesses through programs like ‘Show Your One Card and Save,’ the Midtown Deals & Discounts Guide, and the Wayne State University Farmers Market.  And we are a major contributor to Detroit’s arts and cultural scene, supporting major events such as Dlectricity, Art X Detroit, and Noel Night, as well as spotlighting our own talented students and faculty at venues such as the Hilberry and Bonstelle Theaters.
